This site has been written by Bill and Catherine Main-Ian after Bill had suffered an above knee amputation of his right leg after a road traffic accident. Bill was on his way to work as a police sergeant in central London at the time of his accident.
Bill spent 27 years in the Police Force as a uniformed sergeant and as a CID officer and has vast experience.
Catherine is a specialist nurse in the NHS and was particularly well placed in assisting Bill after his accident.
Both Bill and Catherine were able to use their skills and experience in sorting out the huge number of problems that arose after the accident.
Objectives of this site.
To allow catastrophically injured people and their families to access written information that will START to educate them about the world that they have been catapulted into.
Although primarily aimed at those that have suffered an accident which is not their fault, either fully or partially, and so have a legal claim in the courts, it also has benefits to those disabled people that have suffered their own injury through ill health.
There are two main ways you can learn.
First, you can learn on your own, use trial and error, make mistakes and HOPEFULLY learn from those mistakes and move forward. The problem is most people do NOT learn from their mistakes, because they have no conception that a mistake has been made. Mistakes are very costly in time, energy and money.
The second way humans learn is by learning from others. Learning from the experiences of others.
